Alive and almost well...

Ok I know, I know. I've been off in a land far far away and haven't been keeping up the blogging. We've had a few things going on here. Between sick kids, long Holiday trips and Root Canals, we might just survive!!!! Our plans this weekend are a little lighter and hopefully I'll be able to get some pics of the kids and get a REAL post up. (Don't hold your breath, thou)

Happy Wednesday to ME!!!

I had the coolest surprise today when I got home!!!

The maillady brought a box for me!!! As most of you know, it's not uncommon for me to get boxes in the mail. BUT I haven't ordered anything recently.
Yet this box is here waiting for me. :)

So OF COURSE I dive right into it!!
Guess what I found inside......Heirloom Tomato Plants!!

There are SIX different varieties. Ones that I've never even heard of before. Like Green Zebra, Cherokee Purple, Striped German, Nepal, Wonder Light, and Moskvich. I'm SO excited, I can't wait to get these in the ground and see the wonderful tomatoes that they will produce.

Hopefully they will look something like these....

OK so I'm sure you're asking how and why did these end up on my porch today.

WELL SO am I!!!

Actually I kinda have an idea, well at least I know how they got my address. Last week I was lead to a site called Tomato Heirlooms by another blog that I read. I had signed up at Tomato Heirlooms to receive the FREE Basil seeds, Well those came earlier in the week and today I recieved this huge box of Beautiful tomato plants!!! I had NO idea that these would be coming. I must have secertly won the tomato plant lottery. :) I guess it's a good thing now that we didn't end up with any of the plants that I was trying to buy from the school this year. I will definently be canning some of these beauties this summer. SO if any of you want to head on over this summer this is what I'll have in store!!
YAY I LOVE getting free stuff and don't tell anyone but I kinda liked the surprise too.

So you think your job is......

difficult, stressful, hard, boring, unfullfilling, or any of the other thousand things that people say about their jobs. Take a look at the view that was outside my office this morning!!

Look at this CRAZY way to work!!!!

OK well this might just look like any old helicoptor to you but take a CLOSER look at that white spec directly below him.

YUP it's a MAN hanging on that line. There were two guys working on the power lines and the helicoptor kept picking them up and dropping them off one at a time. They would be picked up and moved to another section of the power lines or be moved to where the helicoptor was landing. I knew that they were working on the power line this week but to actually be able to see them pick a man up and then have him hook on to the power lines while the helicoptor would hover above and then just leave him there was amazing. I think this would be a pretty cool thing to say that you do for a living but man I couldn't imagine actually doing this. When the helicoptor picked them up and took them back to the landing area, it was CRAZY to see this guy just swoooshing around like he was riding a swing at a carnival. But don't think for a minute that the guy in the helicoptor flew slow. He was flying just as fast as all the tour helicoptors that fly by, except he was so much closer to the ground.

So there you have another reason to love or hate the job you have. It was really cool to watch them, while I was firmly on the ground. :)

Hope you all had a wonderful St. Patricks Day!!!

A little bit of our Spring

Here's a little of this weekends events.

First of all Kurt went to Dumont with some friends to ride all day Saturday. I'm pretty sure that he had a good time, even if his backside was a little sore. SO while he was gone, the kids and I went to the children's park at Town Square. We met up with some other moms and their kids. First we met up at Claim Jumper for lunch and then walked over to the park to play. It was really cool, theres a big tree house, a maze, a story time stage and all the regular park things, except swings. Plus once summer comes they turn on the splash pad so of course the kids want to go back then. Once everyone went on their way, we did a little shopping, came home and Chloe and I watched Mamma Mia! In the middle of all that some how I managed to bake some bread with a recipe from one of the blogs I've been frequenting.

I guess it turned out well, we all had sandwiches with it today and the kids were even impressed that I can bake REAL bread. Guess my banana bread isn't real, but hey at least they ate it crust and all. Travis even decided that I could make our bread instead of buying it from now on. :) So now I've decided that if I'm going to bake this more often I'd like to get some different loaf pans, ones that aren't so rounded on the bottom. But hey for now I'll make do with what I have.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I just love the weather we're having. The past few days have been wonderful, it's such a beautiful time of year. But it also means that our "face of the sun" summers are just around the corner. ugh
